Blue Room is made up of eight televisions arranged in a circle that address domestic violence as a ubiquitous social issue and highlights how important it is for people to talk about their experiences with abuse. Each television represents one woman who tells her story and offers insight. The video content for Blue Room is a collection of private interviews conducted with inmates at a woman’s prison in Illinois. These women are lucid in confronting the mind state of individuals who need support in both breaking away and healing from abusive relationships. Nancy Fiator, who in response to the subject has created a vocal element that is present in the center space of the circle.
